Store Management is responsible for ensuring proper inventory levels of clear plastic trash bags Trash inspections are conducted in the back-office area, out of sight of clients Recovered merchandise must be immediately communicated to Asset Protection via a Product Recovery Form Security Guards are not responsible for removing trash from the store once inspected and ready for disposal Security Guards completing trash inspections must be replaced at their front door posts by FENDI employees Stores should use and pre-assign two types of trash bins: The first should be labelled and identified as Shipping Material Only The second should be labelled and identified as Trash & PPE Only Shipping Material Only trash bins
Shipping Material Only trash bins should only contain product shipping materials and be used for, but not limited to, the disposal of shipping cartons, product shipping envelopes, product packaging materials, etc. To ensure clear and efficient inspection, trash that contains products should be separated from other trash. Inspectors physically inspect each item in the Shipping Material Only trash bins to ensure it is clear of product before disposal. Inspecting every item includes turning product packaging inside out, tearing open envelopes, cutting and flattening boxes, and thoroughly inspecting tissue. Boxes and packaging that do not fit in the trash bin must be individually inspected and broken down before disposal. This includes shipment boxes. Trash & PPE Only trash bins
Trash & PPE Only trash bins should only contain non-merchandise shipping materials and other waste, such as PPE, coffee cups, food, napkins, etc. Inspectors are responsible for visually inspecting the contents of the clear trash bag by moving the trash bag around, ensuring all sides are observed and that no shipping materials are identified. A physical inspection of a Trash & PPE Only trash bin is required if shipping materials or product is identified in the trash bag. Gloves must be worn during the inspection. LDS employees must follow the policy outlined above. When only one inspector is available, trash must be secured until a second inspector is available. LDS Security is not qualified to inspect trash. Cleaning crews must be aware of this policy and ensure that trash is not removed before inspections.
